2. Identify the Central Truth: Seek to discern the central truth or main message conveyed by the parable. Ensure that any additional insights gleaned from the parable align with and support this central truth.
3. Consider Context: Context is crucial for understanding Jesus’ words accurately. Take into account the broader context of Jesus’ teachings, including the cultural, historical, and literary context surrounding the parable.
4. Avoid Formulating New Doctrine: While parables offer rich spiritual lessons and insights, it’s essential not to use them as the sole basis for formulating new doctrinal beliefs. Instead, rely on the entirety of Scripture and the teachings of Jesus as a whole when developing theological understanding.
