Understanding the nature and character of God is essential for a meaningful relationship with Him. When God becomes unknown to people, it can lead to spiritual ignorance and a lack of peace. Here are some aspects of the unknown God:
- The Living God: God is not an abstract concept but a living and active presence in the world (Hosea 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 1:9).
- A Righteous God: God’s righteousness demands obedience and faithfulness from His people (Hosea 4:6; Ezra 9:5).
- The Creator God: God is the creator of the universe, displaying His power and wisdom in His creation (Isaiah 40:28).
- A Holy God: God’s holiness sets Him apart from sin and impurity, requiring His people to be holy as well (1 Peter 1:16).
- A Gracious God: Despite human forgetfulness and ignorance, God extends His grace and offers redemption to those who seek Him (Hosea 8:14; Hosea 9:1; Exodus 34:6; Hosea 14:1).
In Acts 17:23, Paul addresses the Athenians who worshipped an unknown God, urging them to turn to the true God who offers peace and salvation. Knowing God leads to peace and fulfillment, while ignorance of Him can result in spiritual emptiness and confusion.
