In Luke 13:34-35, Jesus exemplifies love and compassion in various ways:
- Personal: Jesus addresses Jerusalem directly (13:34a).
- Plain: He speaks plainly about the actions of those who kill the prophets (13:24b).
- Persistent: Jesus expresses how often he desired to gather Jerusalem’s children (13:34c).
- Protecting: His desire is to protect and gather the children of Jerusalem (13:34d).
- Pointed: Despite his love, he acknowledges their unwillingness to accept him (13:34e).
- Pronouncing: He pronounces the desolation of their house (13:35a).
- Predictive: Jesus predicts that they will not see him until a certain time (13:35b).
