A Christian’s relationship with Christ is inherently tied to the institution of the church, as outlined in the scriptures:
- Acts 2:47: “And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”
- Acts 20:28: “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”
- Ephesians 5:23: “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”
- Ephesians 1:22-23: “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.”
- Ephesians 1:3: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”
- Acts 2:47: “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Many seek to embrace the Christ who is the center of the church, yet they may not fully embrace the concept of belonging to the community of Christ, the church itself.
