  • Let him have plenty of money to spend as he likes.
  • Fosters materialism and lack of financial responsibility.
  • Permit him to choose his companions without restraint or guidance.
  • Increases the risk of negative influences and poor decision-making.
  • Let him spend Sunday hours on the street or with companions with low ideals as to the Lord’s Day.
  • Diminishes the importance of spiritual practices and Sunday worship.
  • Allow him to go out at night as he pleases and return when he gets ready.
  • Encourages a lack of boundaries and accountability.
  • Make no inquiry as to where and with whom he spends his leisure time.
  • Undermines the importance of supervision and healthy relationships.
  • Teach him to expect pay for all help at home and for all services to others.
  • Promotes selfishness and a lack of selfless service or family duty.
  • Allow him to think that good manners are a good substitute for good morals.
  • Misplaces the priority of ethics and character development.
  • Do not trouble to interest him in the Bible or to win him to Christ.
  • Neglects the importance of spiritual development and faith.
  • Let him see that you think church attendance is not important.
  • Undermines the value of community worship and spiritual discipline.
  • Never let him hear you pray, especially not for his salvation.
  • Inhibits the child’s understanding of prayer, faith, and personal salvation.
