What Should Parents Provide for Their Children?

Bible images
  • Provide the Physical Necessities of Life
    (Food, clothing, shelter, etc.)
1 Timothy 5:8: “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
  • Provide a Home
Psalm 27:10: “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me.”
Parents are responsible for offering a stable, loving environment that supports the emotional and physical well-being of their children.
  • Provide Teaching, Guidance, and Instruction
Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Parents must teach their children life skills, wisdom, and moral values to guide them in their journey.
  • Provide Discipline
Proverbs 13:24: “He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him promptly.”
Hebrews 12:6: “For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.”
Discipline, when done with love, helps children grow in respect, understanding, and self-control.
  • Provide Spiritual Nourishment
Parents should nurture their children’s spiritual development by teaching them about God, instilling faith, and encouraging them in prayer, worship, and biblical studies.
  • Provide Yourself
Above all, parents should give their time, love, and attention to their children, showing them the example of godly living and being present in their lives.
