Preventive Discipline

• Teach to Accept Responsibility
• Instill accountability from an early age.
• Teach What is Right and Good
• Provide clear guidance on moral and ethical behavior.
• Be Clear in Instructions
• Ensure children understand what is expected of them.
• Be Very Precise
• Avoid ambiguity in rules and expectations.
• Set Proper Example
• Demonstrate the behavior you expect from your children.
• Bring Up in the Lord
• Raise children in accordance with biblical teachings.
• Establish Rules and Results of Breaking Them
• Clearly outline expectations and consequences.

Corrective Discipline

• Whipping/Spanking
• A form of physical discipline when necessary, used sparingly and in love.
• Grounding
• Restrict privileges as a consequence of misbehavior.
• Take Away Privileges
• Remove certain freedoms or activities as a consequence.
• “Chewing Out”
• Verbally correcting behavior, but avoiding harsh or damaging language.
• Extra Duties
• Assign additional chores or responsibilities as corrective action.
• Admonish – Exhort – Encourage
• Offer correction with encouragement for improvement.
