2 Timothy 2:3

A good soldier must:

ENLIST

• Matthew 11:28-30: Jesus calls us to come to Him for rest and guidance, inviting us to enlist in His service.
• Matthew 12:30: We are called to fully commit to Christ, recognizing Him as our Lord and King.
• Romans 6:17-18: Upon obedience to the gospel, we are made free from sin and become servants of righteousness.

BE ARMED

• Ephesians 6:10-18: Put on the full armor of God to stand firm against spiritual challenges.
• 1 Peter 4:1: Arm yourself with the same mindset as Christ, preparing to endure suffering.
• Romans 8:9: Be led by the Spirit, strengthening our spiritual armor through God’s guidance.

PATIENTLY DRILL

• 1 Timothy 4:7-8: Discipline yourself for godliness; this prepares you for both physical and spiritual battles.
• Hebrews 5:13-14: Solid spiritual food strengthens us, so we can discern good from evil and train in righteousness.

OBEY ORDERS

• Matthew 28:19-20: Go into the world, making disciples as Jesus commanded, teaching them His ways.
• Colossians 3:17: Whatever you do, do it in the name of the Lord, keeping His commandments in everything.
• 2 John 9: Walk in the doctrine of Christ, for this is the path to true obedience.

ENDURE HARDNESS

• 2 Timothy 2:3-4: Endure hardships like a good soldier, staying faithful to your calling.
• 1 Corinthians 9:27: Discipline your body and remain steadfast in faith, fighting the good fight.
• 1 Peter 4:12: Expect suffering as part of the Christian walk but rejoice as you share in Christ’s suffering.

COURAGEOUSLY FIGHT

• 1 Timothy 6:12: Fight the good fight of faith, holding fast to eternal life.
• Philippians 1:17: Stand firm in the gospel, defending it with courage.
• 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: We fight with spiritual weapons that demolish strongholds and bring every thought into obedience to Christ.

PURSUE VICTORY

• 1 John 5:4: Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
• 1 Corinthians 15:55-57: Death is defeated through Christ, and victory is assured through His resurrection.
• 2 Timothy 4:7-8: Finish the race and keep the faith, knowing that a crown of righteousness awaits.
