In Luke 18:35-43, the story of the blind man highlights several key actions he took in response to Jesus’ call, which can serve as lessons for how we should respond to Jesus.

1. He Heard

Luke 18:36

• The blind man heard the crowd passing by and learned that Jesus was nearby.
• This illustrates the importance of hearing the message of Jesus and becoming aware of His presence and power.

2. He Cried

Luke 18:38

• Upon hearing that Jesus was near, the blind man cried out loudly, calling Jesus the “Son of David,” showing his belief in Jesus’ authority.
• This represents how we must cry out to Jesus in faith, acknowledging His power and seeking His help.

3. He Came

Luke 18:40

• Jesus heard the man’s cries and called for him to come closer. The blind man responded by coming to Jesus despite his physical limitation.
• This teaches us that we must come to Jesus, no matter our situation or obstacles, with faith and trust.

4. He Spoke

Luke 18:41

• Jesus asked the blind man, “What do you want me to do for you?” and the man spoke his need: “Lord, I want to see.”
• This emphasizes the need for us to speak our needs to Jesus honestly, trusting that He will respond to our faith.

5. He Glorified

Luke 18:43

• After Jesus healed him, the blind man immediately glorified God.
• Once we experience the transforming power of Jesus in our lives, we should glorify God for His goodness and mercy.

6. He Followed

Luke 18:43

• After receiving his sight, the blind man followed Jesus, showing his gratitude and commitment.
• Our response to Jesus’ work in our lives should be to follow Him, living a life that reflects His love and grace.

7. He Received

Luke 18:42

• Jesus healed the man, and he received his sight, confirming the miraculous power of Jesus.
• We must be ready to receive from Jesus, trusting in His power to heal, restore, and transform our lives.

Are You Blind to the Truth?

• Just like the blind man in the story, we may be spiritually blind to the truth of God’s Word. We must hear, cry out, come, speak, glorify, follow, and receive the truths of Jesus to experience true transformation in our lives.
• Reflect on whether you are blind to the truth and whether you are actively responding to Jesus’ call in your life.
