Six Four-Letter Words for Christians

Love
  • Matthew 22:37-38: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.1 Peter 1:22: Love one another deeply, from the heart.1 John 4:19-20: We love because He first loved us.
Significance: Love is foundational to the Christian faith, both for God and for others. It is the greatest commandment and the mark of true discipleship.

  1. Obey
    • Romans 6:17-18: You became obedient from the heart to the form of teaching you were entrusted with.
    • Hebrews 5:8-9: Jesus learned obedience through what He suffered.
    • Matthew 7:21-23: Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” will enter the kingdom, but only those who do the will of the Father.
    Significance: Obedience to God’s commands is essential for living a righteous life and following Christ faithfully.
  2. Pray
    • 1 Thessalonians 5:17: Pray without ceasing.

  3. Work
    • John 9:4: We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day.
    • James 5:14: Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church to pray over him.
    • 1 Peter 3:12: The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer.
    • Philippians 4:6-7: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
    Significance: Christians are called to be diligent in doing good works and living out their faith through action.
  4. Give
    • Acts 20:35: It is more blessed to give than to receive.
    • 2 Corinthians 8:1-5: The Macedonian churches gave generously, even in their poverty.
    • 2 Corinthians 9:7: God loves a cheerful giver.
    Significance: Giving reflects God’s generosity towards us and is a sign of selfless love, both financially and through service.
  5. Look
    • 2 Corinthians 4:17-18: We look not at the things which are seen but at the things which are unseen.
    • Hebrews 12:1-2: Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.
    Significance: Christians are called to focus on eternal values and look to Jesus as the source of strength and purpose.
