The Lord is Looking This Way

In Proverbs 15:3, it is written, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” God is always watching, observing the hearts and actions of His people. There are several ways that the Lord looks at us, each serving a distinct purpose. Here’s how the Lord might look at us:

LOOK OF DISPLEASURE
  • Mark 3:5: “And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.”
  • When we live in disobedience, the Lord may look at us with displeasure. He is grieved by our hardened hearts, yet in His mercy, He still offers restoration and healing.

LOOK OF RECOGNITION
  • Mark 3:34-35: “And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.”
  • The Lord looks at us with recognition when we are aligned with His will. Those who follow Him and obey His commands are recognized as part of His spiritual family.

LOOK OF INSPECTION
  • Mark 12:41: “And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.”
  • The Lord inspects our actions, not just in the grand gestures but also in the small details. He watches how we give, serve, and live, examining our hearts and motives.

LOOK OF PLEASURE
  • Mark 5:32-34: “And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”
  • The Lord looks at us with pleasure when we demonstrate faith, humility, and trust in Him. Just as He looked at the woman with the issue of blood, He delights in our faith and obedience.

LOOK OF WARNING
  • Mark 10:23: “And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!”
  • At times, the Lord looks at us with a warning. He cautions us against the dangers of worldly attachments, pride, and sin, urging us to turn our hearts toward His kingdom.

LOOK OF PRAYER
  • Mark 6:41: “And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them.”
  • The Lord looks to the Father in prayer, seeking divine strength and guidance. When we seek God in prayer, He watches over us, offering His grace and provision.

LOOK OF REPROOF
  • Mark 8:33: “But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.”
  • The Lord looks at us with reproof when we stray from His truth or fail to align with His purposes. He corrects us in love, guiding us back to the right path.

WHAT DOES THE LORD SEE WHEN HE LOOKS AT YOU?

When the Lord looks at us, He sees more than just our outward actions; He sees the condition of our hearts. Does He see faith, obedience, and love? Does He see areas that need correction or refinement? Let us strive to live in a way that pleases Him, so that when He looks at us, He sees a heart devoted to Him.
