The Christian Walk

The Christian walk is a life of faith, guided by biblical principles and the example of Jesus Christ. It encompasses various aspects that reflect our commitment to God, our transformation, and our journey toward spiritual maturity. Here’s how the Bible instructs us to walk:

Walk Worthy of Our Vocation
  • Ephesians 4:1: “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.”
  • Colossians 1:10: “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
  • We are called to walk in a manner worthy of the calling we have received, living lives that honor God and reflect His holiness.

Walk by Faith
  • 2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
  • As Christians, we are called to live by faith, trusting in God’s promises even when we cannot see the full picture. Our faith is the foundation of our Christian walk.

Walk in Love
  • John 15:10: “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
  • Ephesians 5:2: “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”
  • Our walk should be characterized by love—love for God and love for others, following the example of Christ’s sacrificial love.

Walk Circumspectly
  • Ephesians 5:15: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.”
  • We are called to walk wisely, making careful choices that align with God’s will, being mindful of the path we take in our lives.

Walk Separately
  • Ephesians 4:17: “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.”
  • 2 Corinthians 6:14-17: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers…Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord.”
  • We are instructed to walk separately from the world, not conforming to its values, but instead, living lives that reflect our identity as God’s people.

Walk Honestly
  • 2 Corinthians 4:2: “But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:2: “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”
  • Our walk should be marked by honesty and integrity, both in our words and actions.

Walk Even As He Walked
  • 1 John 2:6: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”
  • Jesus is our ultimate example. We are called to walk as He walked—living a life of humility, obedience, love, and righteousness.

The Bible Will Guide Us in Our Christian Walk

The Bible is our guide, instructing us in the ways we should walk. As we read and meditate on God’s Word, it transforms our hearts and directs our steps, ensuring that our walk aligns with His will.

In conclusion, the Christian walk is a journey of faith, love, and obedience. As we strive to walk worthy of our calling, by faith, in love, wisely, separately from the world, honestly, and as Christ walked, we demonstrate the power of the gospel in our lives. Let the Bible continue to guide and strengthen us on this path.
