The Bible provides clear guidance on the role and responsibilities of a wife in marriage. These principles are meant to foster a loving, respectful, and harmonious relationship between a husband and wife. Below are key obligations a wife has toward her husband according to Scripture:

1. LOVE HER HUSBAND

• Titus 2:5 – “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”
• A wife is called to love her husband deeply and consistently, reflecting the love Christ has for His Church.

2. BE THE KEEPER OF THE HOME

• Titus 2:5 – “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands…”
• A wife plays a vital role in managing the home, creating a nurturing environment for her family.

3. OBEY HER HUSBAND

• Titus 2:5 – “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands…”
• A wife is called to respect her husband’s leadership and obey him within the boundaries of God’s will.

4. HER DESIRE BE TO HER HUSBAND

• Genesis 3:16 – “Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
• The wife’s desire should align with supporting and complementing her husband in the marriage relationship.

5. BE IN SUBJECTION TO HER HUSBAND

• 1 Peter 3:1 – “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.”
• A wife is to be in subjection to her husband, showing respect and honoring his authority as the head of the household.

6. SUBMIT TO HER HUSBAND

• Ephesians 5:22 – “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.”
• Submission in marriage is a voluntary act of respect and love, recognizing the husband’s role as the spiritual leader in the home.

7. DRESS MODESTLY

• 1 Peter 3:3-4 – “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
• Modesty in dress is emphasized, focusing on inner beauty and a gentle, respectful spirit.

8. NOT USURP AUTHORITY OVER HER HUSBAND

• 1 Timothy 2:12 – “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”
• A wife should not seek to dominate or override her husband’s role of leadership but should support and complement his decisions.
