Sin’s Arithmetic

2 + 2 – 4

  • Sin adds to you trouble.
Sin leads to a life of difficulty, turmoil, and unnecessary pain. It brings trouble into your life, robbing you of peace.
  • Subtracts from your energy.
Sin drains your spiritual energy, leaving you feeling weary, disconnected, and powerless in your walk with God.
  • X Multiplies your difficulties.
The consequences of sin multiply, compounding your troubles and making them harder to escape.
  • = And its wages are death.
Ultimately, the result of sin is spiritual death—separation from God and eternal consequences in hell.

God’s Arithmetic & Equation for Salvation

  • Belief
Faith in Christ is the foundation of salvation. Belief in His death, burial, and resurrection is the first step toward reconciliation with God.
  • + Repentance of Sins
True repentance involves turning away from sin, changing one’s mind, and striving to live a life that honors God.
  • + Confession
Acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and confessing our faith in Him is vital for salvation.
  • + Baptism of Christ (immersion in water)
Baptism is a symbolic act that represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is through baptism that one is cleansed from sin and united with Christ.
  • = Salvation
The result of following God’s plan is salvation—being saved from sin, receiving the forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life.
  • + Forgiveness of sins
Through baptism, sins are washed away, and we are forgiven, made pure in the eyes of God.
  • + Added to the Church
Upon baptism, we are added to the body of Christ, becoming part of the community of believers.
  • + Promise of Heaven
Salvation brings the promise of eternal life with God, where there will be no more suffering, sin, or death.

Sin Will…

  • Take one farther than you wanted to go.
Sin always pulls us further into bondage than we ever imagined. It takes us places we never intended to go.
  • Keep him longer than he wanted to stay.
Sin traps us in cycles of disobedience, often keeping us in the grip of temptation longer than we ever intended.
  • Cost him more than he wanted to pay.
The consequences of sin are always more costly than we anticipate, affecting not only us but also others around us.

How Are Things Adding Up with You Spiritually?

Take a moment to evaluate your spiritual life. Are you adding faith, repentance, and obedience to Christ’s plan for salvation? Or are you allowing sin to subtract from your energy, multiply your difficulties, and cost you more than you’re willing to pay? The equation for salvation is clear—accept it, and you will experience the blessings of forgiveness, peace, and eternal life with God.
