Christ’s Attractability

The life and ministry of Jesus Christ drew many different people to Him, not only because of His teachings but also due to His character, His miracles, and His profound impact on those He encountered. Here are a few examples that highlight Christ’s attractability in the eyes of various people:

1. The PEOPLE wondered at Him

  • Matthew 15:31 – “The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.”
  • People were drawn to Christ because of the awe-inspiring miracles He performed, and they marveled at His power, leading to their praise of God.

2. PILATE was astonished at Him

  • John 18:33-38 – “Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’… ‘What is truth?’ retorted Pilate.”
  • Even Pilate, the Roman governor who was skeptical and indifferent to many, was astonished by Jesus’ calm demeanor, wisdom, and the way He handled the interrogation, despite the circumstances.

3. The SAMARITAN praised Him

  • Luke 17:15 – “One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.”
  • After Jesus healed ten lepers, a Samaritan returned to express gratitude and praise, demonstrating how Jesus’ compassion and healing power touched not only Jews but also Samaritans, who were traditionally considered enemies by the Jews.

4. The SHEPHERDS worshipped Him

  • Matthew 2:11 – “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
  • The shepherds, ordinary men in society, were drawn to the newborn King and immediately recognized His divinity. They worshiped Him with reverence, marking the beginning of Christ’s attractability to all classes of people.

5. MARTHA served Him

  • Luke 10:38 – “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.”
  • Martha, a woman who served Jesus with hospitality, was drawn to His presence. While her sister Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet, Martha worked to provide for Him, showing how the call of Jesus draws people into service and action.

6. The RELEASED DEMONIAC wanted to go with Him

  • Mark 5:18 – “As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him.”
  • After Jesus healed a man who had been possessed by a legion of demons, the man, who had experienced profound transformation, eagerly wanted to follow Jesus. Christ’s compassion and transformative power made Him deeply attractive to those who experienced His healing.

7. The PEOPLE gathered unto Him

  • Mark 5:21 – “When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake.”
  • People from all walks of life were constantly drawn to Jesus. Whether it was to hear His teachings, seek healing, or simply be in His presence, the people recognized the life and truth He offered, and they gathered to Him in large numbers.

Conclusion:

The attractability of Christ is not just in His miracles but in His character. From the way He loved the outcasts, healed the broken, and spoke truth to power, Christ’s influence was far-reaching. The people from all different backgrounds and walks of life were drawn to Him, whether for healing, understanding, or simply to experience His profound love.
