The Bible Versus Evolution

Evolution Teaches:

  • Man came from animals.
  • Man is wholly matter.
  • The history of man shows an upward tendency.
  • Man is a product of his natural environment.
  • The universe “happened.” A “Big Bang” theory is plausible.
  • Man’s morals depend upon animal instinct.

Evolution is:

  • A nonreligious faith.
  • Unscientific.
  • Non-demonstrable.

The Bible Teaches:

  • Man came from God.
Genesis 1:26-27 – God created mankind in His own image.
  • Man has a soul.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 – The soul is distinct from mere physical matter.
  • Man fell away.
Genesis 3:6-9 – The story of Adam and Eve’s disobedience and the fall from grace.
  • Man can live above his environment.
2 Peter 2:4-9 – God’s moral expectations and the possibility of overcoming worldly influences.
  • God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1 – A divine creation, not a random event or accident.
  • Man’s morals are governed by God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Matthew 22:37-39 – God’s commandments set the standard for righteous living.

The Bible:

  • Produces faith.
  • Pure science agrees with it.
  • Demonstrable.

Conclusion: The comparison highlights a stark contrast between the worldview proposed by evolution and the Biblical perspective of man’s creation, purpose, and moral standing. While evolution is viewed as a nonreligious faith, the Bible teaches that man is created by God with purpose, soul, and moral responsibility.
