Denominational Baptism is Wrong Because… It Has the Wrong Authority
- Denominational baptism is based on the authority of a specific denomination rather than the authority of the Bible.
- Jesus never authorized denominational baptism because He never authorized denominations. The baptism He established was not tied to any man-made institution or denomination.
The Bible Teaches:
- Jesus authorized the kind of baptism He wanted and did so by His authority.
- Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
- Mark 16:15-16 – “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
- Matthew 21:25 – “The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men?”
Key Considerations:
- In every matter of religion, we should determine whether it is “from heaven or from men”.
- The authority for baptism must come from Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures, not from human traditions or denominational teachings.
The Question to Ask:
- Do you have New Testament baptism or denominational baptism?
