What is Wrong With Denominational Baptism?

Denominational Baptism is Wrong Because… It Has the Wrong Subjects

  • Infants are not scriptural candidates for baptism.
The Bible does not support the idea of baptizing infants or very young children. Scriptural baptism requires individuals who can understand and make the decision for themselves to repent and confess Christ.
  • People who believe they are already saved and are Christians are not scriptural candidates for baptism.
Those who think they are already saved and are therefore not in need of baptism are not proper candidates according to Scripture. Baptism is for those who are yet to be saved, as it marks the beginning of a Christian’s faith journey.

The Bible Teaches…

  • Scriptural candidates for baptism must be able to repent and confess Christ prior to baptism.
In Acts 2:38, Peter commands, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”
In Acts 8:36-37, the Ethiopian eunuch confesses, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” before being baptized.

Where in the Bible do you read of one who is already a Christian being baptized, or an infant or very young child being baptized?

The New Testament teaches baptism for those who have heard the gospel, repented, and confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, not for infants or those who are already believers.

Do you have New Testament or denominational baptism?
This is a critical question to ask: Does your baptism align with the teachings and examples found in the New Testament? Or does it reflect denominational practices that deviate from Scripture?
