1. Matthew 16:18 – “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
   • This statement highlights the foundational role of Christ in establishing the Church, and assures us that the Church will remain victorious against all opposition, even the powers of death and hell.
2. Acts 2:47 – “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
   • The growth of the Church is directly tied to the work of God, as He continually adds those who are being saved to it.
3. Acts 11:26 – “And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”
   • The Church is a place for teaching and fellowship, where believers are equipped and nurtured in their faith, and the name “Christian” first emerges as a reflection of their identity in Christ.
4. Ephesians 5:25 – “… Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.”
   • The love of Christ for the Church is sacrificial, demonstrated by His giving of Himself for its salvation. The Church is precious to Christ, as He laid down His life for it.
5. Colossians 1:18 – “And He is the head of the body, the church.”
   • Christ is the supreme authority of the Church, as its Head. All decisions, direction, and life flow from Him, and the Church submits to His leadership.
6. Ephesians 4:4 – “… There is one body…”
   • The Church is described as one unified body, indicating that believers are connected and united through Christ, regardless of their individual backgrounds or distinctions.
7. Ephesians 5:27 – “That He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”
   • Christ’s desire for the Church is to make it pure and holy, without fault or imperfection, as He presents it as a spotless bride to Himself.
8. Romans 16:16 – “The churches of Christ salute you.”
   • The churches, as local congregations, are united in their identity in Christ, and offer greetings and fellowship with one another, showcasing the interconnectedness of believers across various locations.
9. Acts 14:23 – “And when they had ordained elders in every church…”
   • The Church is organized and led by appointed elders, who shepherd and guide the congregation in truth and faithfulness to Christ’s teachings.

These statements reflect the centrality, unity, and holiness of the Church in God’s plan, emphasizing its divine foundation, its growth through God’s will, its sacrificial love in Christ, and its future glory. The Church is not just an institution, but the living body of Christ, sustained by His power and love.
