How to Miss Jesus

Bible images

When you miss Jesus, you miss everything!

  1. Have the Wrong Ideas About Salvation
    • Matthew 19:16-22
    • The rich young ruler approached Jesus seeking eternal life but misunderstood what it took to be saved. He was focused on his works and possessions rather than surrendering to Jesus’ call. To avoid missing Jesus, we must understand that salvation is by grace through faith, not through our own efforts or wealth.
  2. Have Wrong Ideas About the Savior
    • Matthew 19:16-22
    • The young ruler saw Jesus as a teacher to be questioned but did not fully recognize Him as the Savior of the world. We may miss Jesus if we fail to acknowledge Him as the Son of God, the Messiah, and the Savior who came to offer redemption.
  3. Refuse to Acknowledge Your Sins
    • Matthew 19:16-22
    • Jesus spoke to the rich young ruler about his attachment to wealth, a sign of his unacknowledged sin. We miss Jesus when we refuse to admit our sins and our need for repentance. Acknowledging our need for forgiveness is the first step in drawing near to Christ.
  4. Hold Too Tightly to Your Stuff
    • Matthew 19:16-22
    • The rich young ruler was unwilling to part with his possessions to follow Jesus. When we place our material possessions, comfort, or security above our relationship with Christ, we miss Him. Jesus calls us to surrender all to Him, trusting that He is our true treasure.

Are you missing Jesus? He misses you!
Jesus desires a relationship with you, and He longs for you to experience the fullness of His love and salvation. Don’t let misconceptions or attachments keep you from following Him.
