Things I Fail to Understand

  • Are Honest with Men but Not Honest with God
    • Micah 6:8: God requires justice, mercy, and humility.
    • Ecclesiastes 12:12-14: God will bring every deed into judgment.
  • Say They Love God but Do Not Obey Him
    • Luke 6:46: Jesus asks, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?”
    • 1 John 5:3: Loving God means keeping His commandments.
  • Religionists Who Will Accept Less Than the Truth
    • Proverbs 23:23: Buy the truth and do not sell it.
    • John 8:31-32: The truth will set you free.
  • Believers Who Will Not Be Baptized
    • Mark 16:16: “He who believes and is baptized will be saved.”
    • Galatians 3:26-27: Baptism unites believers with Christ.
  • Members Who Attempt to Justify Denominationalism
    • John 17:20-22: Jesus prayed for unity among believers.
    • Ephesians 4:4: There is one body, one Spirit, one hope, and one faith.
  • Take Christianity So Lightly
    • Matthew 6:33: Seek first the kingdom of God.
    • Romans 12:1-2: Present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.
    • 1 Timothy 6:6-8: Godliness with contentment is great gain.
  • Know the Truth but Will Not Teach It
    • 2 Timothy 2:2: Teach others the truth who will be able to teach others also.
    • Hebrews 5:12: Believers should mature and teach others.
    • John 1:43-46: Philip shared the truth of Jesus with Nathanael.
  • Hope to Escape Hell
    • Matthew 23:23: Religious observance without justice and mercy is empty.
    • 1 Peter 4:17-18: Judgment begins with the household of God.
    • Hebrews 10:25-29: Those who reject Christ face a fearful judgment.
  • Just How It Is That Some
    • James 1:17: Every good gift and perfect gift is from God, who is unchanging.
    • God’s will is more understandable than the ways of men.
