1 Corinthians 15:1-4
- The Gospel was preached to the people (v. 1).
- They received the Gospel and stood firm in it (v. 1).
- The Gospel saves if they hold fast to the word preached, ensuring their belief is not in vain (v. 2).
- The Gospel is:
- Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures (v. 3).
- He was buried (v. 4).
- He rose again on the third day (v. 4).
- Therefore, obeying the Gospel means obeying the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
How is the Gospel Obeyed?
- Romans 6:3-5 explains how to obey:
- Baptism into Christ means being baptized into His death (Romans 6:3).
- One is buried with Christ in baptism (Romans 6:4).
- Rising from baptism to walk in newness of life symbolizes Christ’s resurrection and a new life in Him (Romans 6:4).
- One dies to sin through repentance (Romans 6:5).
- One must first be buried with Christ (baptism) to be raised with Him (Romans 6:4-5).
