The Day That Jesus Died Was a Day of Destiny

  • Genesis 3:15 – The promise of a Redeemer.
  • Isaiah 53:3-5 – The suffering servant, foretold to bear our iniquities.

  • Romans 5:8-10 – Christ died for us while we were still sinners, reconciling us to God.

The Day Jesus Died Was a Day of Disturbance

  • The darkest day of history:
  • The sky turned dark from noon to 3 p.m., symbolizing the weight of sin being carried.
  • The day of intense suffering:
  • Isaiah 53:3-6 – He was despised, rejected, and bore the punishment for our peace.

The Day Jesus Died Was a Day of Declaration

  • God declared His love for mankind:
  • Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • God declared that salvation was offered to all:
  • Romans 5:9-10 – Through Christ’s death, we are reconciled and saved from wrath.
  • God declared that peace could be found in Jesus:
  • Romans 5:11 – “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
  • God declared victory over sin and Satan:
  • Romans 5:10 – We are reconciled to God.
  • Colossians 2:13-15 – Jesus triumphed over powers and authorities, disarming them at the cross.

The Day That Jesus Died Was a Day of Decisions

  • Pilate decided to ignore Him:
  • Matthew 27:24 – Pilate washed his hands, refusing to make a decision about Jesus.
  • The crowd decided to reject Him:
  • Matthew 27:22-25 – The crowd chose Barabbas over Jesus, condemning Him to crucifixion.
  • The repentant thief decided to believe in Him:
  • Luke 23:40-43 – The thief, in his final moments, placed his faith in Jesus, and Jesus promised him paradise.
