The nine different aspects of the Spirit can be divided into three groups:
- “Love, Joy, Peace”
- Focus: Our relationship with God.
- “Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness”
- Focus: Our relationship with our fellowman.
- “Faith, Meekness, Temperance”
- Focus: Our relationship with ourselves.
- LOVE
- Definition: Good will toward our fellowman intensified (it acts) and sanctifies (it is set apart).
- Description: Seeking the good of another above oneself.
- JOY
- Definition: The “glad-heartedness” that comes from our faith in God and His goodness toward us.
- PEACE
- Definition: The serenity of soul arising from the consciousness of being brought home to the favor of God and to obedience to His will.
- LONGSUFFERING
- Definition: To suffer long.
- GENTLENESS
- Definition: Kindness; sweetness of disposition.
- Description: A willingness to be of service to others.
- GOODNESS
- Definition: The disposition to do good to others.
- FAITH
- Definition: Full of faith to the end.
- MEEKNESS
- Definition: Mild of temper; patient under injuries; longsuffering; absence of passion or wrath; consistent mildness of temper.
- TEMPERANCE
- Definition: Self-control.
