Apocrypha Facts:
- “Apocrypha” means “hidden” or “secret.”
- The Apocrypha emerged during the 400-year interim period between the Old and New Testaments.
- Jews of the Dispersion in Egypt included these books in the Greek translation of the Old Testament, known as the Septuagint.
- Jews of Palestine rejected them from the Hebrew canon.
- At the Council of Trent in 1546 A.D., the Roman Catholic Church declared 11 of the 15 books to be included in the Catholic Bible.
- Jesus never quoted from these books.
- Most early “church fathers” regarded them as uninspired.
