Definition of Discipline:
“Training or experience that corrects, molds, strengthens, or perfects.”
Discipline is Two-Fold:
- Instructive: Preventive in nature.
- Corrective: Chastising or penalizing in nature.

Four Purposes of Church Discipline:
- Reformation of the offender: Bringing the offender back to righteous living.
- Preservation of the moral purity of the Church: Maintaining the Church’s holiness.
- Defense of the good name and reputation of the Church: Protecting the Church’s integrity.
- Carrying out the expressed will of God: Following God’s command for discipline and correction.
