Denominational Baptism is Wrong Because…
- It Has the Wrong Authority:
- Denominational baptism is based on the authority of a specific denomination rather than the authority of the Bible.
- Jesus never authorized denominational baptism because He never sanctioned denominations.
- The Bible Teaches:
- Jesus authorized the type of baptism He desired through His divine authority:
- Matthew 28:19-20
- Mark 16:15-16
- Matthew 21:25
- Always determine in religious matters whether it is “from heaven or from men” (Matthew 21:25).
- It Has the Wrong Subjects:
- Infants are not scriptural candidates for baptism.
- Individuals who believe they are already saved and consider themselves Christians are not scriptural candidates for baptism.
- The Bible Teaches:
- Scriptural candidates for baptism must be able to repent of their sins and confess Christ before baptism:
- Acts 2:38
- Acts 8:36-37
- There are no examples in the Bible of infants or very young children being baptized.
- There are also no examples of individuals who are already Christians being baptized.
- “But He answered and said, ‘Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.’” (Matthew 15:13).
